Tony Lisman: Club Owner / Team President
Tony Lisman has to be proud of the team he calls his own. Over the last 13 years, he has watched it grow from an infant of a franchise to one of the top minor professional sports teams on the continent.

When the Muskegon Fury started up in 1992, it was because of Lisman. The Muskegon Lumberjacks left town the year before, and the man who was a sales representative for them made sure hockey stayed in Muskegon.

It took a few years to get the “puck” rolling, but Muskegon has now won four titles in the last seven seasons, something no other professional sports franchise in North America can say. In 13 years of competition, the Fury team has a winning percentage of .620, tops in all of minor professional hockey.

Lisman is the only member of the entire Fury organization that has been with it since its inception in 1992. So, with people shuffling in and out every year, how does he find success so often?

“It's all about the people you surround yourself with,” Lisman said. “Everyone around me does a great job, and they're all focused on winning.”

People throughout the hockey world and especially the United Hockey League are quite familiar with the job Lisman has done, and haven't been shy about letting him know it. He has been thrice named UHL Executive of the Year (1993, 1994, 1999), and was named Governor of the Year in 2004. In addition, he served as interim commissioner of the UHL during the 1996 - 1997 season.

While Lisman is one of the many important figures in the Muskegon Fury organization, he is also an important figure at Walker Arena. He serves as president of the Arena Management Group and Arena Concessions Group.

Lisman, a Michigan State University graduate, believes there is more success on the horizon for his team, as well.

“We have a team that is very capable of winning,” Lisman said. “While the bulls-eye on our back has grown considerably over the last couple of seasons, we believe we can overcome it.”

Lisman and his wife, Jill, reside in Spring Lake Township and have five children: Sarah, A.J., Zachary, Wyatt, and Dylan.
